Mark and Laura Puente launched Puente’s Tijuana Tacos after visiting dozens of taco stands across Southern California in 2019 and 2020.
The hallmark of Tijuana-style tacos is meat grilled over mesquite charcoal. Mark’s lifelong passion for meat smoking and grilling drove him to Tijuana-style tacos.
Mark, an investigative reporter, twice a Pulitizer Prize finalist and a former truck driver, visited carnicerias across Los Angeles to ask Mexican butchers about the best cuts of meat for Tijuana tacos. He also gleaned insight from tacqueros across Los Angeles. He brought those tips from Los Angeles to Northeast Ohio in 2021. Mark and Laura enlisted family members and friends to help spread the word about their brand of tacos in the Cleveland area.
Puente’s Tijuana Tacos have a unique taste like no other tacos in the area. The meats on our signature TJ-style tacos are grilled over mesquite coals and served with a healthy smear of bright green guac salsa, salsa verde and red salsa.
We don't cook anything in a truck. We grill the meats over mesquite coals in front of you. The corn tortillas are pressed fresh in front of you. Nothing is fried on a griddle. You can garnish your tacos with one or all three salsas. No upcharges for any salsas-including guacamole. We are a licensed, mobile food establishment.

Mark joins the BBQ Central Show to talk tacos
We bring great tacos to locations all across Cuyahoga, Medina, Summit, Lorain, Lake and other counties. We will arrive two hours before an events starts to setup and begin cooking. Our calendar below shows our schedule for public events and pop-ups. Be sure to follow our social media pages to see if we're serving delicious tacos near you. We serve three types of meat at public events. We can customize menus, including vegan options, for any private event. Please contact us for details and pricing.
We use only Certified Angus Beef ® for our tacos. Our beef is marinated over night in a special seasoning before grilling.
We make our own chorizo from a recipe passed down from my great grandfather, who used to make it and sell it in Mexico.
Our chicken is marinated overnight in a special seasoning before it hits the grill.
We melt cheese under a corn tortilla on a griddle and then fill it with your choice of meat and toppings.
